I've been pretty lucky. I turned 65 and became eligible for Medicare at just the right time. I was able to avoid the huge monthly payments associated with private health insurance because I've been lucky enough to be healthy. I mean, I haven't really had health problems that would increase premiums or costs. When I turned 65, I needed more services and costs would've gone up for me, but by then I was able to get Medicare. Again, I've been really lucky.
