Poor people in the U.S. need help with health insurance. I'm a single, uninsured mother stuck in that middle ground, where I make too much money to get most state aid and I make too little to afford an individual plan. I had health insurance until recently though. When my son turned 18, they said that I was no longer eligible for Maine Care. Problem is, when I looked at other insurance plans the premiums were too high and my employer isn't big enough to offer any kind of plan.
